Noor Jehan was one of the leading singers in the pre and post independence era. She also acted in films including Punjabi films. One of her films “Anmol Ghadi” (1946) also starring Surendra, Suraiya, Noorjehan, Amir Banu, Bhudo Advani & Leela Mishra iss still remembered for hit songs like- .”Aaja Meri Barbaad Mohabbat Ke Sahaare”, “Jawan Hai Mohabbat Haseen Hai Zamana”, “Awaz De Kahan Hai” , “Mere Bachpan Ke Saathi” & “Ab Kaun Hai Mera” all rendered by Noor Jehan. The film had music score by Naushad. It was a musical Blockbuster with an unbelievable Net Gross of rupees One Crore.

She also acted in the Punjabi film Pind Di Kuri” (1935). She was the leading lady opposite Pran in Khandaan (1942). Also featured in “Yamla Jatt” (1940). “Mirza Sahiban” (1947) and “Jugnu” (1947) were her other hits. Married to actor Shaukat Hussain Rizvi, Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan was Born 21 September 1926.
