Shri Guru Ram Das, founder of Amritsar ,was the fourth Sikh Guru wo was bestowed with Guru Gaddi in September 1574 . Born to Mata Daya Kaur Ji & and Baba Hari Das Ji Sodhi (24 September 1534), Guru Ram Das Ji’s Known for founding Ramsar, a Holy city which later came to be known as Amritasr ‘Sifti Da Ghar’. He was brought up raised by his maternal grandmother following the death of His parents when Guru Ji was a child.
Guru Ram Das , Born in Chuna Mandi, Lahore (now part of Pakistan) to Mata Daya Kaur Ji & Baba Hari Das Ji , was married to Bibi Bhaani Ji, daughter of Shri Guru Amar Das Ji. The couple was blessed with 3 children. Amritsar is one of the most visited tourist destination in the world with an average 100,000 people visiting the Holy shrine every day. On Sundays & Holidays the place becomes overcrowded. People from all walks of life visit the shrine situated in the heart of the City.
Guru Ramdas Sahib Ji created ‘Anand Karaj’ (‘Char Laavan’ marriage tradition) in Sikhism propagating dignity of simple marriage .He was against caste system & other social evils prevalent in the society. A highly revered person, Ram Das Ji’s devotion to His Guru was unrivalled. He travelled widely & held congregations preaching a simple living with dignity and humility.
