Guru Dutt, one of the finest directors of Hindi Cinema with some of the memorable films to his credit like -“Aaar Paar”, “Baaz”, “Baazi”, “C.I.D.”, “Kagaz Ke Phool”, “Mr. & Mrs.’55” & “Pyasa”. His two films “Pyaasa” & “Kagaz Ke Phool” have been internationally acclaimed with “Pyaasa” finding a place in the “Time magazine’s All-Time 100 top films.

The noted director also acted in hits like “C.I.D.”, “Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam”, “Chaudhvin Ka Chand”,” Kala Bazar”, “Bharosa”, “Jaal”, “Baaz” & “Baazi”. “Babuji Dheere Chalna” song was from his film “Aar Paar”. He enacted some of the most passionate scenes with Mala Sinha in “Suhagan” (1964) also featuring Feroz Khan with a lovely song ‘Tumhi To Meri Pooja Ho Tumhe Dil Me Basayaa Hai’.

‘Piya Aiso Jiya Mein’, ‘Bhanwara Bada Nadan Re’ , ‘Na Jao Saiyan Chhuda Ke Baiya’ & a Mujra picturized on Minoo Mumtaz ‘Sakhiya Aaj Mujhe Neend Nahin Aayegi’ were hits from his film “Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam” starring Meena Kumari,Waheeda Rehman Rehman & Guru Dutt.

A close friend of Dev Anand, Dutt was married to singer Geeta Dutt, Guru Dutt was rightly declared as the “Filmmaker of the Century” in a poll conducted on a national channel .Blessed with two sons and a daughter Nina Dutt.

Died 10 October in 1964 in the prime of his life
