Lauren Bacall , a well known Hollywood actress made her debut in 1944 movie “To Have and Have Not” followed by ” The Big Sleep ” (1946) with Humphry Bogart and “How to Marry a Millionaire” (1953) featuring Marilyn Monroe and Betty Gable, was named 20th great female star of classic Hollywood cinema. Known for her sultry looks and a distinct voice, Lauren won a Golden Globe and was also nominated for an Academy Award for film ‘The Mirror has Two faces’ (1996) also starring Barbra Streisand, Jeff Bridges, Pierce Brosnan & George Segal. Married Humphrey bogart ( ‘Casablanca’ famed actor) who was more than double her age. After his death in 1957 she married Jason Robards.


Bacall who started her career as a fashion model & was crowned Miss Greenwich Village later made a foray into films. Bacall worked opposite Kirk Douglas in the film ‘Young Man with a Horn’ (1950) & Gary Cooper in the 1950 movie ‘Bright Leaf’. Won Critics’ Choice Movie Awards & Two Golden Globe Awards besides Academy Honorary Award in 2010. Nominated for British Academy Film Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in ‘The Shootist'(1977) & Best Actress in a Supporting Role for ‘The Mirror Has Two Faces’ (1997).

She died in her Manhattan apartment on 12,April 2014. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, USA. Left $ 27 million estate for her 3 children and $250000 each to her younger grandsons, the sons of Sam Robards.
