Radhika Apte, one of the most potentially gifted actresses of the current breed, is primarily a Tamil and Telugu films actress. The babe took to film acting in Mahesh Manjrekar directed film “Vaah Life Ho Toh Aisi” (2005) featuring Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Sanjay Dutt, Prem Chopra, Arshar Warsi & Radhika Apte, the subject of this write up. The film did reasonably well. “Antaheen” (2009) starring, Rahul Bose, Aparna Sen, Sharmila Tagore brought both fame and recognition to the budding actress. She plays a journalist in the film. There was no looking back.
“Andhadhun”(2018) elevated the actress to higher category making many in the movie industry wonder. The film starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, Anil Dhawan & Ashwini Kalsekar. In between she did a number of films like- “Badlapur”(2015), “Phobia”(2016), “Pad Man” & “Lust Stories”(2018), “Bombairiya” (2019) & “Raat Akeli Hai”, last year. “Pad man” & ” Manjhi – The Mountain Man” were different from run- of -the- mill stuff & thought provoking. She also did a role in “Sacred Games” crime thriller TV series based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap .It is said to be India’s first Netflix original . Radhika Apte is mod, progressive & has no hang – ups about doing bold scenes.
Apte has appeared in many plays, too. Mrs Undercover”, reportedly a spy-thriller was her latest release premiered on 14 April 2023 on ZEE5. It will be Anushree Mehta’s debut film as director. She has also done TV serials and has been a key player & observer of theatre. Her favorite actors include the likes of Aamir, Akshay & Aishwarya Rai. Radhika who stands 5 foot 2 & weighs 50kg is married to Benedict Taylor. Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Mathematics .Her home town is Pune.
