James Cameron is credited with producing many blockbuster movies like “The Terminator”(1984),”Titanic” (1997) & “Avatar” (2009). Known for making science fiction & epic films, the noted director shot into prominence with “The Terminator” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton & Paul Winfield. It became a trend-setter. Cameron later married Linda Hamilton. Arnold Schwarzenegger ,a former International bodybuilder, later became Governor of California in 2003.

“Titanic”(1997), featuring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt , was written, produced & directed by James Cameron depicted the events leading to the sinking of The RMS Titanic, the largest ship at that time in service, on 15 April 1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean, with reportedly 2200 people on board of which about 1500 lost their lives. The film’s budget was $200 million. It grossed $2195 million. The film received 14 Academy Awards Nominations winning 11.

“Avatar”(20090 was produced with a budget of $237 million, collecting a whopping $ 2847 million. Its cast included-Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, & Michelle Rodriguez.
The films directed by Cameron grossed approximately US$2 billion in North America and US$6 billion worldwide. “Avatar” and “Titanic” are the highest and third highest-grossing films of all time, earning $2.85 billion and $2.19 billion, respectively. Cameron holds the achievement of having directed the first two of the five films in history to gross over $2 billion worldwide.
James Cameron fancied famous & trendy women. Married five – Sharon Williams( 1978-div 1984),Anne Hurd (1985 div 1989), Kathryn Bigelow (1989 div 1991), Linda Hamilton (1997 div 1999) & Suzy Amis 2000.His third wife Kathryn Bigelow enjoys the unique distinction of being the first Woman Director to win Saturn Award for Best Director in 1995 for “Strange Days” starring Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett, Juliette Lewis & Tom Sizemore. She won an Oscar for “The Hurt Locker” (2008) in 2010 becoming the first Woman in the 82-year history. The film starred Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly & Brian Geraghty.

Other notable films of James Cameron include the likes of “Aliens” ( 1986),”The Abyss” (1989),”Terminator 2: Judgment Day”(1991) & “Aliens of the Deep” (2005). The celebrated director born this Day in 1954 at Kapuskasing, Ontario, in Canada presently lives in New Zealand.
