Rakhee , born Rakhee Majumdar, on 15 August 1947 is one of the most successful actresses of the 1970s & 1980s doing many hits with mega star Amitabh Bachchan notably – “Kabhie Kabhie”, “Trishul”, “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”, “Laawaris”, “Kala Patthar”, “Shaan” & “Shakti” besides some of the hits with Rajesh Khanna like “Daag” & “Sharmeelee” with Shashi Kapoor. The actress did act opposite Dharmendra in ” Jeewan Mrityu” ( ‘Jhilmil sitaron ka aangan hoga’) & “Blackmail” ( ‘Pal pal dil ke pass tum rahti ho’) She did ‘Heera Panna’, ‘Banarasi Babu’ (1973), ‘Joshila’ (1973) and ‘Lootmaar’ with Dev Anand . Married Ajay Biswas (1963-65) & later Gulzar in 1973.

Bestowed with Padma Shri in 2003. Won Filmfare Award for Best Actress for film “Tapasya” (1976), National Film Award for Best supporting Actress for Bengali film “Shubho Mahurat” (2003) & Filmfare Best Supporting Actress for “Daag” (1973). Also received 13 Nominations for Filmfare Best Actress & Supporting Actress.
