The Eiffel Tower represents Paris, the way Taj represents India. In 2016-17 six million people visited the Eiffel Tower. In 2015 seven million visitors arrived to see the Tower, perhaps the highest ever. Surprisingly and interestingly, too, the Golden Temple at Amritsar, the holiest Sikh Shrine, has outnumbered the Eiffel Tower of Paris, The Great Wall of China (10 Million annually) The Great Pyramid of Egypt 4 million tourists annually & Christ the Redeemer, Brazil 1.8 million visitors per year. The Holy Sikh shrine is visited by more than hundred thousand per day. No wonder it has now been declared as a destination most visited by tourists in the world in a survey conducted by the World Book of Records in London, something to be proud of for all Indians in general and the Sikhs in particular. The Golden Temple commonly called Shri Harmandir Sahib was completed in 1604. Sai Mian Mir Mohammed laid its foundation stone in 1589 on the request of Shri Guru Ram Das.
