Born to parents Shomu Mukherjee & actress Tanuja on 5 August 1974 in Bombay now Mumbai, the actress inherited acting from her aunt Nutan, mother Tanuja & maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth. Married to actor Ajay Devgan, the actress is known for her film “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”(1995), also starring SR Khan & Amrish Puri, to win Filmfare Award for Best Actress followed by “Gupt: The Hidden Truth” (1998) “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (1999), “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (2002), “Fanaa” (2007) & “My Name Is Khan” (2011) besides 6 Nominations & several other accolades. She won a total of 5 Filmfare Best Actress Awards to rub shoulders with her aunt veteran actress Nutan followed by Meena Kumari, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan & Alia Bhatt (4 each).
