“The Kanpur Files – 1984 Sikh Genocide”

After the successful commercial & critical release of “Kashmir Files” & “Kerala Files”, another film is in the offing.

A Press Meet in this regard was organized by the GM Foundation’s production house Global Middas Capital (GMC) at Press Club, Chandigarh .The film titled “The Kanpur Files – 1984 Sikh Genocide” will highlight the widespread violence, loot & “Sikh Massacre” in the country.

Sardar Inder Preet Singh, producer of the film, told media persons that the film will be based on the real events & happenings at & around Kanpur where a sizeable Sikh population has been residing. The film will present in-depth account of premeditated mass killings, looting & incidents of violence against the Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district during 1984. He reiterated that it is indeed shameful that even after passing almost four decades ,the culprits have not been brought to books & justice done to the aggrieved families.

He said that to punish those involved in Sikh Genocide of 127 people in Kanpur and to provide justice to the victims, an SIT was formed on February 5, 2019, 35 years after the incident, through the efforts of Sardar Kuldip Singh Bhogal, President All India Riot Victims Relief Committee, 1984, and Advocate Prasoon Kumar, a Supreme Court lawyer, for identification and prosecution of those involved in the killings. Kuldip Singh Bhogal also addressed the media persons.

Earlier, Global Middas Capital (GMC) had released a 3-hour documentary produced in association with Global Middas Foundation (GMF) on October 30, 2022, titled ‘1984 – Genocide of Sikhs, Crime Against Humanity’. The documentary includes interviews with victims of the 1984 Delhi riots and their family members, lawyers and social activists through which an attempt has been made to understand the events that took place between October 31, 1984, to November 7, 1984, in Delhi, Kanpur and Bokaro, Rehabilitation of the witness and victims where they stand today after 38 years since 1984 Genocide.

The film is likely to hit the screen in October 2023.
