Telugu mega star Prabhas starrer “Adipurush” (2023), an action drama based on Hindu epic “Ramayan” by Valmiki was released on 16th June in 5 languages . Written and directed by Om Raut and produced by Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, the film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages starring Prabhas in the lead playing Rama while Saif Ali Khan plays Ravana & Kriti Sanon as Janki including Sunny Singh and Devdutt Nag in key roles.

According to trade sources, the film on its release, did a worldwide business of 140 crore & at the end of the second day, it crossed 240 crore but the film embroiled in controversy due to the plot and some dialogue receiving negative reviews from critics & viewers amounting to protests & some also challenging the veracity of facts mentioned therein . Feeling the growing pressure, it has now been announced that the producer is ready to make certain changes keeping in view the sentiments of the viewers and various organizations who had raised their utmost concern about the issue. The film produced with a budget of 500 crore is likely to earn profit after some time.

Prabhas was earlier seen in ‘Bahaubali’ series which had collectively grossed more than 1600 crore Indian rupees at the Box office.

The film is trailing behind the initial gross collection of Prabhas starrer ‘Bahubali 2’ & ‘Saaho’.The film has grossed more than 300 crore at the end of the third day with Hindi belt reportedly contributing less than 40 percent. The film’s teaser released on 2 October 2022 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti had also met with severe heavy criticism. The film has music score by Sanchit Balhara & Ankit Balhara.
