Born 7 January 1967, and an NSD graduate, Irfan Khan domestically, made screen debut & got recognition with the Academy Award-nominated film “Salaam Bombay” (1988), highlighting the life of children living in slums. It was followed by a series of negative roles, though still making his presence felt and wining awards ,too. “The Lunchbox” (2013) won him worldwide acclaim by the critics and audiences as well. His other films include the likes of “Haider” , ” Gunday” ( 2014) and “Piku”( 2015). He played ‘Pan Singh Tomar'( 2012) based on the story of an athlete turned a rebel in a film of the same name. It was a successful film and won him his individual National Best Actor Award. It also won the Best Feature Film Award.

His highest-grossing Hindi release, however, was “Hindi Medium “(2017), which became a sleeper hit in India and China, for which the actor also won Filmfare Best Actor Award. He also featured in “Angrezi Medium”. Irfan Khan won several Screen Awards, Star Screen Awards including Filmfare Best Actor Award in ” Haasil ” in a negative role & Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for” life in Metro”.
He was also part of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture , receiving international recognition for his role as a Police Inspector .The film received Nine nominations winning Eight.
