On Guru’s Birth Anniversary
Born to Mata Ramo Ji & father Pheru Mal at village Matte -Di -Sarai in district Muktsar, Punjab Guru Angad Dev Ji was the second of the ten Sikh Gurus. He was named Lehna after his birth.
An ardent follower and disciple of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, He was a true , dutiful, hardworking and creative personality with spiritual flavor as his forte.

impressed by his devotion, creativity & spiritualism Guru Nanak Dev ji chose him for Guru Gaddi as his successor in 1538.
Guru Angad Dev not only spread teachings & principles of Guru Nanak Dev Ji but also worked for the betterment & spread of Gurmukhi all over. He also aimed at improving literacy among Sikhs by starting a school at Khadoor Sahib (Taran Taaran) where Gurmukhi was taught to children of all religions and casts. He also educated & made the younger generation aware of their health & the environment surrounding them.
