Lohri is the first festival of the #year that marks the beginning of the harvest season in Punjab, Haryana & neighbouring northern states by lighting up a bonfire in the premises or open space in a society followed by distribution of sweets – rewari, gazak & til patti including pop corn called ‘phulle.

People dance around & enjoy welcoming each other with #Greetings. Newly weds, in the middle or upper middle classes, celebrate the #occasion on a larger scale inviting friends & relatives at dinner & cock-tails. The arrival of a child in the house also makes it an occasion to celebrate.
May the festival of #Lohri brighten your life with happiness, good health and success in the days ahead.

Many songs and folklore are also associated with the Lohri festival. The most popular one is as follows in the honour of Dullah Bhatti.

Sunder mundriye ho!
Tera kaun vicharaa ho!
Dullah Bhatti walla ho!
Dullhe di dhee vyayae ho!
Ser shakkar payee ho!
Kudi da laal pathaka ho!
Kudi da saalu paata ho!
Salu kaun samete!
Chacha gali dese!
Chache choori kutti! zamidara lutti!
Zamindaar sudhaye!
Bum Bum bhole aaye!
Ek bhola reh gaya!
Sipahee far ke lai gaya!
Sipahee ne mari itt!
Bhaanvey ro te bhaanvey pitt!
Sanoo de de Lohri, te teri jeeve jodi!

Happy #Lohri To All Friends & Relatives. Lohri Celebrations on 13th January
