After the martyrdom of elder two sons of Guru Gobind Singh -Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, fighting against the might of the Mughals, the younger two sons were also bricked alive for not bracing Islam. They attained martyrdom on 26 December. The event is celebrated as “Saka Sirhind” every year between 24 to 26 December also known as ‘Shaheedi Jor Mela’ at Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.

The cremation of the two younger Sahibzadas- Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, and Mata Gujar Kaur (mother of Guru Gobind Singh Ji) was undertaken by Diwan Todar Mal, a wealthy Hindu merchant .As fee, he covered the cremation grounds with gold coins, as their final rites couldn’t be done on a piece of land owned by the Mughals. The place is now known as Gurudwara Jyoti Swaroop Sahib at Fatehgarh Sahib . #Todarmal is also remembered for his daring and compassionate act. He was a ‘Baniya’ by sub-caste. Guru Gobind Singh Blessed him that he would never be short of Money. The ‘Blessings’ proved true in the centuries that followed. People belonging to “bania sub caste’ never ever suffered losses in #Business during their lifetime. They continue to #Grow & #Grow financially.

A Hind film titled ” Chaar Sahibzaade” was also made on the subject in 3D some years ago. It ran packed houses all over.

This year the #Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee has arranged Shabad Kiratan & Gurubani throughout the #Day & #Night in memory of the #Martyrs at #All the actual places right from “Parivaar Vichora’ leading to the arrest of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh until they were bricked to death and the subsequent events leading to the #Defeat of the Mughals. Salutations.
