To commemorate the martyrdom of four sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh, a #Shaheedi Jor Mela is held at Fatehgarh Sahib , every year, in the month of Poh ( between 25 to 27 Dec). It becomes a site of pilgrimage for the Sikhs who flock in millions to pay reverence to the great small martyrs .
The elder two sons of Guru Gobind Singh had attained martyrdom in the battle of #Chamkaur , fought between a handful of Sikh soldiers and the might of the Mughal ruler Wazir Khan who had treacherously imprisoned #Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and #Fateh Singh ,then barely 9 and 7 years respectively, along with their grandmother. They were asked to brace Islam as their religion. On refusal, the enraged Wazir Khan, ordered them to be #Bricked alive. Wazir khan even refused their last rites to be performed as per the Sikh tenets. In this context, a village banker, Todar Mal is remembered for paying thousands of gold coins to the Mughals in bargain, and arranging for the cremation of the two sons of Guru Gobind Singh and his mother. The said piece of #Land is believed to the the Costliest in the world.

The Battle of ‘Chappar Chiri’ was subsequently fought to avenge the deaths of four sons of Guru Gobind Singh between the Mughal Empire and the #Sikhs in May,1710 lead by a Sikh warrior #Banda Singh Bahadur. The Mughal and Sikh forces met outside #Sirhind in a village named #Chappar Chiri. #Fierced raged the fight it was hard to tell what would #betide for the Mughals were armed with artillery, well equipped cavalry and large infantry whereas the Sikhs had cavalry and infantry but no artillery. In the battle that ensued, #Sikhs eventually showed their militant superiority, killing Wazir Khan and defeating the Mughals, establishing their first Raj in Punjab with Lohgarh (Haryana) as its capital.

A film titled “Chaar Sahibzaade” was released in November 2014 under the banner of Baweja Films as a tribute. Produced by Pammy Baweja and directed by Harry Baweja, it took years of sincere efforts , several meetings and long discussions with various historians, critics and religious groups to bring forth the possible best as it is prohibited in Sikhism to make films on Sikh Gurus. Resultantly, the film was made in an animated form and still images were used in the film. The film was produced in Punjabi, Hindi and dubbed in American English for the viewers living abroad.

To commemorate the martyrdom of younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, who were bricked-up alive in 1705 by Wazir Khan, the Governor or Fauzdar of Sirhind, a #Magnificent gurdwara was constructed known as #Fatehgarh Sahib.
