A wealthy but debauch Prince (Sanjay Dutt) confronts with a common villager( Rishi Kapoor) to deprive him of his beloved (Madhuri Dixit) who while chasing a rabbit, enters into the premises of his luxurious palace. The debauch Prince ,smitten with the raw, and budding beauty of Sahibaan immediately falls for her. His proposal to marry Sahibaan is welcomed by her parents. Sahibaan, however refuses to marry the promiscuous prince as she loves Gopi ( Rishi Kapoor). Enraged Vijay threatens them with dire sequences.

Produced by D. K. Chawla and directed by Ramesh Talwar, the film has screenplay, dialogues and story written by Armaan Shahabi ,who was also part of his debut film “Apna Desh Praye Log”. Anand Bakshi penned the lyrics while Shiv-Hari scored the music which was declared hit and amongst the most popular of films produced in 1993.The film opens with few tourists visiting a small village on a hill station where they meet an old care taker of a graveyard who recounts events leading to the tragic death of the two ‘love birds’ ( Rishi-Madhuri Dixit) and after narrating the story he dies. He was Sanjay Dutt. The film now starts in flash back.

Bharat Kapoor, Kiran Kumar, Anjana Mumtaz, Beena Banerjee & Tinnu Anand were part of the film. Interestingly, everyone related to the film became a part of it excepting this writer.

The launching party of the film was held at Centaur Juhu amidst fanfare and it was largely attended by the top brass of the film industry. It was said to be one of the grandest shows ever.
