On Her Birth Anniversary

Dipika Chikhlia rose to prominence becoming a household name playing Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s TV series “Ramayan”(1987).It was the most watched show during lockdown.

Her debut film was ‘Sun Meri Laila ‘ (1983), opposite Raj Kiran .She also did a few films with Rajesh Khanna including “Rupaye Dus Crore”. I was present on the sets & had interviewed Rajesh Khanna & Kiran Kumar. The film starring Rajesh Khanna, Kiran Kumar, Chunky Pandey , Sadashiv Amrapurkar & Amrita Singh was directed by one of my friends Sikander Bharti. ‘Ghar Ka Chiraag’ and ‘Khudai’ were the other films.

She also worked in Gujrati ,Kannada & Telugu films. She played actress Yami Gautam’s mother in film “Bala” (2019). Married businessman Hemant Topiwala. The couple is blessed with two daughters.
