Tshering Phintso with his screen name “Danny” Denzongpa came into limelight with “Mere Apne” also starring late Vinod Khanna.The latter ruled the roost from a villain to an actor while the former,the subject of this write up ,continued to enjoy his villainy as his forte. Indeed, his name became synonymous with revenge, brutality and killing.

Th actor who started his career in 1971 continues to feel his beans. He was last seen in Kangana Ranaut starrer “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”(2019). Interestingly, the actor introduced a new cult in villainy marked by violence, killing & cruelty, proving his histrionics at the same time in films like “Dhund” (1973), “36 Ghante” (1974), “Dharmatma” (1975) & “Kalicharan” (1976) to mention few. In “Seven Years in Tibet” he co starred Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.

Bestowed with Two Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Awards for “Sanam Bewafa” (1992) & Sridevi Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Khuda Gawah” (1993) ,the actor married Sikkim Princess Gawa in 1990. The couple is blessed with two children -Rinjing Denzongpa and Pema Denzongpa.

Born this Day at Gangtok, Sikkim in 1948.
