Bangladesh is another of our neighbouring countries with a sizeable Bong population. Unlike in Kolkata, the Bengali speaking Hindu population is 10% in Bangladesh. Muslim population is in majority. Dhaka, with a population of more than 90 lakhs within the city limits ( Metro 2 crore 24 lakhs ) is the capital of Bangladesh, & center of national , trade and culture. The country has a sizeable Bong population & traditionally, in many ways , it rubs shoulders with Kolkata. It was part of India before partition in 1947. Bangladesh, previously known as East Bengal(later became East Pakistan), came into existence on 26 March 1971.
Bangladeshi Bong beauties, both actresses & models, are known worldwide and are no less beautiful, well endowed and bewitching than their Indian counterparts as is evident from the photographs of some the loveliest actresses and models including most adorable ones like- Aparna Ghosh, Misty Jannat, Tanjin Tisha, Purnima, Apu Biswas, Shaina Amin ( actresses) & Shirin Akter Shila, Sinha Saha, Alisha Pradhan & Amrita Khan (models). Aparna tied the knot some time ago. She is recipient of Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film “Mrittika Maya” (2013).
Like Pakistan, earlier Indian films were banned there and pirated DVDs were in circulation. Now, the ban has reportedly been lifted for obvious reasons. Proximity to India, cultural background, and similar life style of people, coupled with technical superiority of Indian movies , mellifluous music & fine lyrics. It is worth mentioning that Bollywood is more popular there than Hollywood. Moreover, Indian films draw more crowds.
