His elder sons made the Mughals realize who they were fighting with. Fierced raged the fight. It was hard to tell what would betide. Ajit Singh & Jujhar Singh with a handful of Sikh soldiers fought against the might of the Mughals till end in the epic ‘Battle of Chamkaur” (1704), and achieved martyrdom, seen unparallel in the history then aged 17 & 14 years respectively. Gurdwara Qatalgarh in Chamkaur Sahib now marks the site where Ajit Singh & Jujhar Singh achieved martyrdom. The younger two sons of the Guru – Jorawar Singh & Fateh Singh were bricked alive when they refused to brace Islam.

Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti commonly called ‘Gurupurab’ marks the auspicious day when the tenth & the last Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh was born at Patna Sahib. The whole nation Celebrates his 355th Birth anniversary today.

Guru Gobind Singh, a benevolent man who preached justice, peace, and equality for all, is known for rising against the Mughal invaders. He was a scholar , disciplinarian & against casteism & superstitions.

The Sikhs all over the world commemorate the Day with prayers in Gurudwaras, celebrations & offerings followed by langars and distribution of sweets.
