Malayalam,Tamil & Kannada flms have been known for their sexual contents. As many as 22% films made in late 1970s earned “A’ certificate of which Malayalam films alone accounted for 48%. Many of the actresses down South had no qualms about shedding their inhibitions as well as clothes-the snarling censors notwithstanding. And many of these actresses were willing to do any act-nude,sexy,deviant or perverted on the screen. Topping the list of permissive films is the blockbuster “Avalude Ravukal” (Her Nights) a 1978 Malayalam-language film directed by I. V. Sasi. It is rated and still considered as one of the boldest films ever made down South.

Sex films were also produced in Tamil titled “Mirugam” ,”Uyir”, & “Kadhal Kadhai”. Some of these may not be characterized as lusty or sheer erotica but they surely touched or highlighted some of the most delicate sexual issues.

The scenario now seems to have shifted to Web Series. Many such series have done wonders in last 2-3 years the likes of “Aashram”, “Mirzapur”, ‘City of Dreams”, ‘Lahore International” , ” Ek Thi Begum” & recently “The Family Man 2”.
