Amarinder Singh, a member of the royal family of Patiala, who recently resigned from the post of Chief Minister, is most likely to join BJP .Captain who served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007, was also the president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee until recently. His differences with Navjot Singh Sidhu, coupled with other issues lead to this development.

His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. Captain Amarinder Singh also served the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966. His father Yadvindra Singh was the last ruling Maharaja and also an ardent cricket enthusiast.
