Sri Lanka, unarguably is a beautiful country gifted with awe-inspiring fauna & flora. Though small , it has exotic appeal & tremendous charm. The country has a rich history and also talent in abundance. The country, I believe, has more Beauty Salons & Models per capita than in any other developing country, some of whom have won laurels both nationally as well as internationally. There are more photographers and exotic outdoor locations to exploit during photography sessions, so to say. I have picked up few friends like Vishwa Tharanga Fonseka, Kingsley Perera & Ravindra Bandara who are known photographers there.
The woman who brought glory to the nation was Rosy Senanayake who won the first ever Mrs World pageant in 1984-85 held at Queensland, Australia. She has since held many portfolios & is currently the Mayor of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
I would also mention names of some of the best known fashion ,catwalk models, some of these my timeline friends, others known to me for years besides some known actresses starting with Mayumi Ishara, a scintillating Sri Lankan model & a beauty in her own right. Jacqueline Fernandez , is another Sri Lankan actress, former model, and winner of Miss Sri Lanka 2006 who made her Bollywood debut in 2009 and so successfully, too. Dilukshi Kavindya Weeraperuma, an actress and presenter, has also been Ist Runner Up in Miss Sri Lanka Earth pageant held in 2017. Shanudrie Priyasad is also a prominent Sri Lankan beauty also gifted with singing & a dancing feet. Dilki Amarsinghe, Suhana Savindi , Senali Fonseka, Venu Udani, Nimesha Jayarathne, Nayumi Thakshila, Rashiprabha Sandeepani,Dinakshie Priyasad, Sachini Ranawaka, Nithya Devindi, Sanjana Onaali, Emasha Hans, Gaanu Prasadi, Udari Perera, Dinithi Walgamage ,Udari Perera, Dinithi Walgamage , Takshila Lansa & loveliness personified Sanjana Pelawatta are some names who showcased nay proved their talent in the world of fashion, acting & modelling.
Pooja Gauthami Umashankar, lovingly known as Pooja, is a Sri Lankan-Indian film actress. Pooja has appeared not only in Tamil films but in Sinhalese, Malayalam and amateur films as well. There seems no paucity of talent & more & more Lankan beauties have been vying one another for a place in the fantasy world of ‘glitter and glamour’.
