Sri Lanka wih a pouplation af over 21 milion is our neighbouring country ,earlier known as Ceylon.The lankan women have an old penchant for fashion & beauy.Beauty pageants are regularly held there and internationally,too,some of the Lankan women have won laurels for the country.Modelling has come up as a flourishing industry with thousands of young and well endowed girls doing wonders worldwide.
The capital of Sri Lanka is Colombo with a population of about 7,53,000 while the metropolitan area has a population of 5.6 million.Colombo is the financial and business hub with more Beauty Salons,Models & Photographers per capita,to boast.The areas at & around the place have exotic charm & appeal for the tourists who visit the place with exotically picturescue fauna & flora being the additional attraction.There are more photographers,photo shops and exotic outdoor locations to exploit during out-doors photography sessions, so to say. I have many photographer friends, based in Colombo & neighbouring areas . Ravindra Bandara, Kingsley Perera, Vishwa Tharanga Fonseka,,Mahen.lk & Pasindu Rathnayake & Gayashan Bandara to mention some.
Shangri-La Hotel Colombo, Taj Samudra, The Kingsbury Colombo, The Galadari Hotel & Hilton Colombo Residence are top 5-star luxury hotels where most of the shooting takes place.Mount Lavinia Beach,,National Museum of Natural History, Galle Face Green & Gangaramaya Temple are major tourists attractions in Colmbo. Negombo, situated 38km from the capital is a major city.
Most Lankan photographers own latest cameras and other paraphernalia. Shooting is done in 5-star hotels, places of tourist attraction, on sea beaches, & deep in the forest at exotic locations, a photographer’s delight. Pre-wedding, post-wedding, romantic shoots, fashion shows & family functions predominantly form part of their routine & major source of income. Indian films have also been shot in Sri Lanka.Shammi Kapoor was one of the earliest film stars to visit Colombo in early 1950s & had a brief liaison with Nadia Gamal, the renowned Belly Dancer of Egypt before his marriage to actress Geeta Bali.
I ventured to write about Sri Lankan Models 15 months ago and became known to many of these lovely beauties, including some irresistibly stunning nay voluptuously endowed chicks.Jacqueline Fernandez is a known Sri Lankan actress, former model, and winner of Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant of 2006.She made her Bollywood film debut in 2009 & raced to stardom. Anarkali Akarsha , a well known Sri Lankan model, actress & politician having represented the country in the Miss World 2004, pageant, held on 4 December 2004 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. Has been brand ambassador to many national & international concerns ,too.
Mayumi Ishara , Aruni Rajapaksha,Pooja Umashankar,Upeksha Swarnamali,Shanudrie Priyasad, Dilki Amarsinghe, Suhana Savindi ,Yashoda Nayak, Viduashe, Poojani Perera, Allegra Wijemuni, Madusha Herath, Chulakshi Ranathunga, Natasha Fallon, Nisansala Madushani , Kaushi Perera & Eranthi Nicole Dias, presently residing in Milan, Italy are some other well known faces. Most of these models are either known to me or are my timeline friends.
